“From the Sisterhood” November 2017

Sisterhood News

After a busy fall holiday season the women of Temple Beth-El Sisterhood gathered on Sunday morning, October 22nd at Temple for the Opening Brunch.  The women each brought a dish to share and as usual the food was plentiful and delicious.   Mady Mac Millan entertained us with some familiar and favorite piano selections.  Our guest speaker was our Israeli Shlicha, Karin Wasserman.  Karin shared her family history with us and talked about her service year working with at-risk teenagers following high school.  She served as an educator in the military following that year.  If you stop by Temple on a Sunday School morning you can see Karin enthusiastically working with our youth.  Once you meet her you will surely agree that we are fortunate to have her in South Bend this year.

The Midwest WRJ Interim Leadership Session was held at Olin Sang Ruby Union Institute Camp in Oconomowoc Wisconsin the last weekend in October.  Cold temperatures did cause a Y.E.S. Fund Fundraiser Walk to be changed to an alternate indoor activity , however the cold temperatures did not dampen the warm spirit of the weekend generated by the warm hearts of the women gathered to share ideas, successes, and challenges.  The prayer services celebrating Shabbat and Havdalah were a highlight of the weekend.  Zabe Williams, Mary Sue Austin, and Mary Fisher attended the weekend.
