Kurt and Tessye Simon Scholarship Fund

The Kurt and Tessye Simon Scholarship Fund was established in 1989. The fund provides college scholarship assistance to members of Temple Beth-El or to the children of members.  Scholarships are available to under graduate and graduate students.  Applications are available to print on line. The scholarships are renewable for each year that the student is enrolled. The deadline to complete the applications for this year is April 16, 2021. A committee made up of Temple members reviews the applications and notifies the student of the scholarship award in May.   We are so grateful for the generosity of the Simon family for their continued support of our college students. This year, the total amount of scholarships awarded to the Simon Scholars was $41,000.

This is the time of year that seniors in high school and college students need to acquire a Simon Scholarship application.  The application must be submitted

along with, two letters of recommendation*, a grade transcript, an essay, and any involvement in extra-curricular activities. The Applicant is also to include a

budget form that lists tuition, housing and incidentals which the student will incur during their year in college. The Applicant may also include any outside activities, including employment.

*For the Graduate School application, only one letter is required

We are so fortunate to be able to assist our students. We look forward to welcoming this year’s Applicants.  Please know that a student can either enroll in a 2- year or a 4-year college/university program or a technical/trade school or Graduate School/Program to be eligible for a Simon Scholarship.
